SSE Cricket is operated by Sport School of Excellence CC ("SSE", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our application forms, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible for your information
Sport School of Excellence CC (registration number 2006/208112/23), trading as SSE Cricket, Pretoria, South Africa, is the responsible party for the personal information described here. For any privacy question or request, email chris@sportschool.co.za and mark it "Privacy".
What we collect
When you apply to the Cricket Institute we collect:
- Parent or guardian name, email address and phone number
- Player name and date of birth
- Cricket information, such as club or school, playing honours, position and playing style
- Video clips or video links you choose to upload
- Names, roles and phone numbers of references you give us
- Your answers about payment option, accommodation and how you heard about us
- Any injuries or medical conditions you choose to tell us about
When you send a Camps & Tours enquiry we collect your name, role, team, school or academy, country, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, and the details of the tour you are planning.
When you visit the website we do not ask for any personal information. See "Cookies" below.
Children's information and health information
Many Institute applicants are under 18. Where a player is under 18, the form must be completed by, or with the consent of, a parent or guardian. Injury and medical information is special personal information under POPIA. We only collect it with your consent, and we only use it to keep the player safe and to plan training around any injury. Only the staff who need it can see it.
Why we use your information
We use your information to:
- Assess the application or enquiry and contact you about it
- Arrange trials, tours, enrolment and payments
- Keep players safe during training, matches and tours
- Keep proper records of our programmes
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising by anyone else. We will only send you marketing about SSE if you have agreed to it, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Who can see it
Your information is available only to SSE staff who work on applications, enrolment and tours. We use trusted service providers to run this website, store application data and video files, and send emails. They may only use your information to provide that service to us. We may also share information where the law requires it.
Information stored outside South Africa
Our website and database service providers may store information on servers outside South Africa. We only use providers that protect personal information to a standard at least as strong as POPIA requires.
How long we keep it
We keep application and enquiry information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, and for any period the law requires. If an application does not go ahead, we delete it, including any uploaded videos, within 24 months unless you ask us to keep it for a future intake. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
How we protect it
Application information and videos are stored in a secure database with access limited to signed-in SSE staff. Videos are private and are only opened through short-lived secure links.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and for a copy of it
- Ask us to correct or update it
- Ask us to delete it
- Object to us using it, or withdraw your consent
- Lay a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za)
To use any of these rights, email chris@sportschool.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores a small amount of information while you fill in an application, so you do not lose your progress, and the staff area remembers a few display settings for signed-in staff. None of this is used to track you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
